Zayira Ray is an award-winning and globally exhibited Indian-American photographer and artist from New York City.
Spanning cultural and socioeconomic strata, Zayira documents love, heritage, and sacred bonds with a commitment to under- and mis-represented stories. From documentary portraiture, to fashion editorials to commercial campaigns, her keen lens has led to the creation of arresting imagery that is devoid of convention. Each and every frame embodies a safe space: refuges that exist beyond the constraints of the outside world, reflecting both our histories and our imagined futures.
"Ray’s work is a testament to the creative potential of lens-based media… demonstrating that collective empowerment can be cultivated in the process of intimate image making."
